I am an illustrator, graphic and textile designer, design book editor and teacher, specialising in pattern repeat, watercolour painting and collaborating with like minded people.
I have completed a Masters of Creative Arts, a Bachelor of Education in Art, a Graduate Diploma in Graphic Communication, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
My areas of interest are design and education, preparing design resources for teachers and working on my own homewares and stationery designs. My most recent venture has been to design slings for deck chairs, which can be seen on instagram.
All of the work that I create has sustainability and ethical work practices as a key focus. Whether it is the local production of my tea-towels, the inks and papers selected for my stationary and posters, or the Australian bird and plant imagery that I work with to highlight the importance of nature conservation.
I have held exhibitions at Bundoora Homestead Access Gallery, Chapel Off Chapel Gallery, Mildura Arts Centre, Dollshouse Gallery, and George Paton Gallery. I have always found that there is a fine line between Fine-Art and Graphic Design when I create work for myself. Whenever I create an artwork, I always wonder what it will look like if I apply it to another surface, or if the image is repeated, or cropped. The artworks exist both on their own, and as graphic art when applied to a different surface that has a purpose.
I am currently the Education Officer of Visual Communication Victoria where I communicate with Victorian Secondary Teachers of Design. I try to keep them informed about curriculum changes, current resources and anything Design related that will help them with their teaching. My favorite part of this job is producing resources for teachers. You can see my current resources in the Resources section of the VCV website.
Through my work at VCV I have seen a growing need for busy VCD teachers to learn the Adobe Creative Suite. If you are interested in learning how to use Illustrator and InDesign, how to teach the software to your design students and how to prepare design briefs for the classroom to utilise these skills, contact me for one-on-one classes. I am also happy to tutor VCD students.
I hope that you enjoy my site as much as I enjoy producing the work that is displayed here.
