My writing, illustration and design work specialises in children's books, with a focus on Typography and Australian imagery.
If you have a project in mind I'd love to hear!
About me
Formally, I have completed a Masters of Creative Arts, a Bachelor of Education in Art, a Graduate Diploma in Graphic Communication, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
My areas of interest are design and education, Children's book illustration, writing and design, and working on my own homewares and stationery designs.
All of the work that I create has sustainability and ethical work practices as a key focus. Whether it is the local production of my tea-towels, the inks and papers selected for my stationery and posters, or the Australian bird and plant imagery that I work with to highlight the importance of nature conservation.
"I am a Melbourne based author / illustrator who loves type, pattern and nature."
— Fiona Sinclair, Illustrator & Designer
Freehand and vector based illustration
I love to work with freehand watercolour painting and combine this with digital drawing.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as letting watercolour paint spread across a thick textured page of watercolour paper. The uncontrollable nuances of colour and tone add spontaneity to an illustration.
Drawing with Adobe Illustrator tools allows me to produce a range of line styles, colours and brush textures that are great for drawing human, animal and imaginary characters.
Writing and Book Cover design
Similar to my illustration work, my writing style targets children and aims to be engaging, informative and playful.
